Hypersensitivity vasculitis due to ofloxacin.

چکیده
We estimate that up to 60% of the patients we treated after extending the selection criteria for treatment would otherwise have been treated by cholecystectomy. Treatment was most successful in patients with many small stones (s1 cm diameter). The median time to clearance of stones in this group was seven months. This was shorter than would be expected with oral dissolution treatment alone, suggesting that lithotripsy played an important part. 4 The relative importance of extracorporeal fragmentation and oral dissolution treatment in this treatment is unclear. Sackman et al showed that bile salt treatment had a major influence on their results: stones were completely cleared in only 30% of their patients two months after lithotripsy compared with 93% at 18 months.' We added a terpene compound to the bile salts, which may have enhanced dissolution and had an important antispasmodic effect, thus reducing biliary colic.5 Interestingly, only 16% of our patients had biliary colic compared with 35% reported by Sackman et al.'

A Retrospective Analysis of Inflammatory Factors in Adult Patients With Cutaneous Vasculitis
Background: Cutaneous vasculitis is defined as the inflammation of blood vessels of the dermis. However cutaneous vasculitis is not a specific disease but a manifestation that can be seen in a variety of settings. We sought to review the clinical manifestations, laboratorial findings, pathological changes and etiologic association of cutaneous vasculitis in patients admitted to Dermatology Depa...
متن کاملImmunologic Evaluation of Ofloxacin Hypersensitivity
Quinolone hypersensitivity, most of which is immediate type, is rare but has increased in recent years. The pathogenic mechanisms underlying immediate reactions are not defined clearly. This study was aimed to observe the clinical characteristics of immediate hypersensitivity to ofloxacin and to investigate the pathogenic mechanism with detection of serum specific IgE to ofloxacin using an enzy...
متن کاملCutaneous leukocytoclastic vasculitis associated with levofloxacin therapy
Many cases of cutaneous vasculitis are drug-induced with histology revealing leukocytoclastic vasculitis (LCV). We present a case of levofloxacin-associated LCV successfully treated with prednisone and cessation of the offending drug. Although case reports describe a link between LCV and older fluoroquinolones, such as ciprofloxacin and ofloxacin, recent reports have implicated the newer fluoro...
متن کاملAnnular leukocytoclastic vasculitis associated with anti-tuberculosis medications: a case report
INTRODUCTION Anti-tuberculosis drug-induced cutaneous leukocytoclastic vasculitis has been rarely reported. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case of annular leukocytoclastic vasculitis associated with anti-tuberculosis drug administration. CASE PRESENTATION We report a case of annular leukocytoclastic vasculitis induced by anti-tuberculosis medication. A 62-year-old Th...
متن کاملLeucocytoclastic vasculitis in a patient with azathioprine hypersensitivity.
We report the case of a 77-year-old man admitted nine days after being commenced on azathioprine with symptoms initially thought to be secondary to sepsis but in fact due to azathioprine hypersensitivity. He developed histologically proven cutaneous leucocytoclastic vasculitis following the re-introduction of azathioprine. We review the literature concerning adverse reactions to azathioprine an...
